Brain networks comprise various neuronal connections between brain regions and diverse cell types within each brain region node of the network. Dissecting the cellular and molecular contributions to these networks is a major effort of the lab. In order to evaluate the major cell type contributors to overall network activity, we are utilizing in vivo electrophysiology in conjunction with single cell RNA-Seq to identify the cell types with greatest gene expression variance by network activity.  The ultimate goal is to identify cellular and molecular drivers of brain network activity that could be used to develop more targeted therapeutics for brain disorders.
